This is the reason I foster!
Beau {aka Splash} all tuckered out after playing ball with his new family!
Dear Ms. Mereth and Ms. Kristyn;
Boy! It has been an exciting 24 hours! After a quick trip to the store to get me some toys and leashes we went to the people’s house. They have lots of things to sniff and especially these little people called Lauren and Riley. They gave me almost as many kisses as I gave them!! My new mom got me a perfect crate with a fluffy bed and I just love it. We keep my new squeaky toy in it. I made myself right home and even some neighbors came to see me. They all say I’m the cutest thing EVER and I showed off a little bit. My new Dad wasn’t so sure about all this….that is, until I gave him a hug and a big sloppy kiss. Hook, line, and sinker…love!
After a good night sleep, I got mom up at 6am (Mom is NOT used to rousing at 6am on Saturdays!). We went out for a pee and then took another “nap” until 6:45. Then we got to go for a long walk! So much fun and I got to smell EVERYTHING! We saw these things called deer….boy it’s a good thing mom had me on a leash because I took off like a shot after that thing. Dad says he’s glad I chased the deers away from his hostas. I’m still not sure what a hosta is but I’m glad he’s happy. After our walk, Mom and I drove to Taylor’s BP to get coffee, and they gave me a biscuit. Then we hung out on the porch reading the newspaper before everyone got up. After a mid morning nap, we went up to Unleashed to get some food, a collar, and some chewy treats. I met lots of other dogs and very nice people – one lady said she remembered me!
I have to tell you however, my new Dad wasn’t “feeling” the name Splash even though Mom liked it. So, since he wasn’t terribly informed about me to begin with, Mom thought the least we could do is give him naming rights. So my family came up with a bunch of names and did something called the democratic process. They decided to call me “Beaufort” since that’s where I was found. They call me Beau for short (but Mom still secretly calls me Splash). So, its been a great 24 hours and they say I’m the cutest, funniest, sweetest boy in the world. This is definitely my forever home. Life is good. Thank you Ms Mereth and Ms Kristyn for saving me and introducing me to my family. They are very grateful. Mom says she’ll get in touch with you next week to get everything finalized. She also wanted to double check last date of flea/tick meds (I’ve been very ITCHY today and Mom pulled a tick off that was crawling on me!).
Love, Beau (aka SPLASH)
Some people say they could never foster because they would get too attached. You certainly do grow to love each and every dog that spends time in your home. But when that dog finds his or her “people,” it doesn’t matter how sad you might be to say goodbye because your heart just swells with so much happiness and love for them!

sooooo cute. i'd love to foster but i do worry about getting attached (plus we have 2 dogs already and work full time). since i can't, i try to donate to the humane society and rescues when i can. so so so happy that beau found a new loving home!

Such a great thing that you foster! There needs to be more people like you in this world! 🙂 No doubt about that.

This is so sweet. I really want to try to foster when we get back to living in the states in a few years!
