Ever since school started back up, my days have been incredibly busy. And my blogging has inevitably suffered. So while little baby Cate takes a nap, I thought I would update you on what is going on in my life now that I am finally into a routine.
So to start things off, I should say that I am not a morning person. I never have been and I never will be. Regardless of how much pep talking I give myself the night before about getting up when my alarm goes off, it NEVER happens. I even have to walk across the room to turn my alarm off, but I still go get back in bed. At least for a few minutes. I also have to shower the night before because if I set my alarm 30 minutes earlier to get up and shower and blow dry my hair, when morning comes I will shut off that alarm and tell myself I can just use some dry shampoo and sleep for another 30 minutes. That’s why I have to schedule early events, because if I don’t I will not get out of bed until at least 10am.
My alarm usually goes off at 7am. I usually get out of bed by 7:30 and spend about 20 minutes on morning prep – washing my face, brushing my teeth, make-up, hair, etc. Then I’ll spend the next 20 minutes or so in the kitchen making my morning smoothie (more on this to come) and coffee and packing a lunch. Then I’ll pack my bag up and head out the door around 8:10-8:15.
Two days a week, I make my way down to the chiropractor. I know a ton of people are really skeptical of chiropractors but I have had chronic back pain for a few years without the doctors being able to find anything wrong. So I decided to give it a try and after my first adjustment, I have felt SO much better. In addition to the back pain subsiding (I still have the occasional soreness after exercizing) but I have also have very few headaches (I used to have one almost every day), my appetite is more regular and I don’t want to snack as much, and – THE MOST WONDERFUL THING EVER – it has really helped with my TMJ. I walked out of the first adjustment and was able to open my jaw wider than I had been able to in years, and he didn’t even adjust my jaw! The place I go is really wonderful in that they teach me exercises to do to strengthen the muscles in my back to support my spine. Anyways, that is my pitch for chiropractors!
After my chiropractor appointment, those two days I try to make it to a Zumba workout class at a wonderful Studio in Chapel Hill. The time of the class works really well with my chiro appointment before and then I’m able to make it to my 11 am class afterwards.
I have class for an hour and then usually babysit in the afternoons. If I’m not babysitting I spend that time in the library trying to get ahead in my classes. Starting in October, I will add two more classes to my schedule so I want to get as ahead as possible before then since my semester is very back-loaded.
On the days I don’t go to the chiropractor, I leave the house about 8:15 and head to the house of a wonderful family to babysit for their darling daughters (Cate and Ginger). I watch Cate in the mornings while Ginger (that’s Ginger one day when we made bunny snacks our of marshmellows) is at school and then one day a week I watch them both in the afternoons.
On these days, I go to a coffee shop after I babysit to study until the Zumba and Xtend Barre classes I do in the evenings or until I head home to let the dogs out and figure out dinner.
In the evenings, I have a class from 7-9 pm two days a week, a Junior League meeting twice a month, and try to spend some time with Jeff and the puppies. I’ve been failing at this last thing the last week or so because I’ve had something just about every night. I also still have work to do in the evenings, try to catch up on reading the blogs I follow, do a little crafting, plan two baby showers this fall, try to see the few shows I really like, read a page or two of the book i’m reading and get to bed at a decent hour. Lets not even mention trying to find time to clean. I spent a couple hours cleaning yesterday and spent half the day on Saturday cleaning. (More to come on that later)
I try to get to bed before 11 so I can get my 8hrs. And that’s what it’s like in my life right now. It is always busy busy busy and go go go but I enjoy everything I’m doing right now. If we could just add a couple hours to the day, that would be great! lol. Bear with me as I add blogging into the mix. How do you guys balance your day and make sure to make time for blogging between work, school, personal things?
