I think that I could probably spend all day, every day getting lost in a book if I had the time. This summer I’ve tried to make it a point to read more. I’m on my third book so far.
The first book I tackled was Cutting for Stone. This book was AMAZING! It was recommended to me by a friend and I see why. It is a very long book – about 600 pages – but I didn’t ever want to put it down. I wasn’t exactly sure what it was about when I started it, I really just started it because I heard so many good things about it. Had I stopped to read the back, I probably wouldn’t have read it, but I’m so glad I did. I’m still not sure if I know what it was about completely. But every single page was so wonderfully written that a story so unassuming ended up being one that completely wrapped you up in it. I highly recommend this one.
I then read The Girl who Played with Fire. I had read The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo a while back and really liked it. I immediately started reading this book and had to put it down – I just couldn’t get into it. This series of books is different from books I normally read. I guess a better explanation was unexpected. But after reading a book or two in between, I definitely enjoyed The Girl who Played with Fire. I ended up reading it in just a few days. I found the ending to be slightly abrubt given the build up throughout the book but it was incredibly interesting and, once again, different from other books I tend to be drawn to. This is not a normal “chick” book. I’ve got Jeff reading the first one and I think he’ll enjoy it as much as I did.
Right now, I’m almost halfway through American Wife. I’ve had this book on my bookshelf for a few years now. Something else had always come up that prevented me from picking it up. In light of the 4th holiday I figured it would be rather appropriate to start reading now. I ended up staying up about an hour past my self-imposed bed time to read last night. I wouldn’t say that the book is the best written book that I’ve ever read but it is very interesting and the emotions of the characters are thought-provoking. Overall, I’m enjoying this book and am excited to read the rest of it.
My reading list is always much longer than the summer itself but here are some of the rest of the books I hope to read this summer (read: at some point in my life)
What books are you reading this summer? What books should I add to my neverending list?

I read American Wife a couple of weeks ago and enjoyed it. Have you read Prep by the same author? It was pretty good as well. Something Borrowed was great, and you'll immediately want to read Something Blue after. I just received BossyPants in the mail, but haven't started it yet. The Help is also at the top of my list right now, have you read it?
