I’ve been on spring break this week and have taken much of the week off to just relax, sleep in and re-coup. I was getting severly burned out with regards to school so this was much needed even though there is plenty of school work I probably should’ve gotten done. Oh well! I apologize for the lack of posting this week. I had every intention to post but instead just took most of my break for exploring the blogging world and finding some wonderful new blogs! I hope to have a Daily Reads column up on my blog soon! Does anyone have suggestions for good tutorials for this?
Our house has seen a few changes this week. Two saturdays ago, Jeff and I were about to leave for a friend’s party when I noticed water dripping out of the kitchen light – yes, out of the light. We had just noticed a brown water mark on the ceiling and I planned to call the plumber that coming week when this happened. So the plumber came and we discovered the upstairs bathroom toilet has been cracked and slowly leaking a little water everytime it was flushed – probably for a long time – but since it was such a small amount of water, no one ever noticed. So the upstairs bathroom got a new toilet. Well almost TO THE MINUTE (no lie) the following saturday, I was getting ready to head to Raleigh to babysit and I noticed water once again dripping out of the kitchen light. So the plumber got to come back and the light fixture got to come down {sidenote: there is only about a 4 x 4 inch hole cut out of the sheetrock for the light fixture which means it could easiily be replaced with something much prettier than the “doctor’s office” fixture that is there now… hint hint Jeff 😉 }. Turns out that the caulking where the tub, wall and floor all meet had lifted away from the tub and not doing it’s job anymore. So water was able to drip down if it splashed out of the tub which explains why it was just a little water and it only dripped out of the light every so often. So the upstairs bathroom is going to need some new caulking too.
Our house also got a brand spanking new fence for our beautiful babies this week! I have never been so happy to write a check in my entire life. This fence has literally been over a year in the making. Despite many set backs and many design changes, it is done, finished, complete! The dogs love it! I love it! The house loves it! Besides giving the pups a place to play, it makes the house look so much larger and really emphasizes the size of the yard. I was really lucky to find a house with a beautiful yard on a corner lot. I’m so excited to finally be able to utilize it!
I planted a bunch of seeds in a greenhouse starter kit this week. I’m going to have Jeff build me one of these to put in my new backyard!
Hopefully I will have some nice, strong seedlings to transfer to it soon! In other news, our beautiful Bradford Pear Trees are in full bloom. I can’t wait for the weather to get just a bit warmer so that I can make a trip to the nursery and get myself some new bushes and perennials. It was a little cold today here in Durham but it is supposed to be a beautiful weekend! Spring, please do not disappoint.
